Starting as a page in the Rhode Island Senate in 1975, Christopher Boyle became the youngest clerk of a legislative committee when he was named Clerk of the Senate Finance Committee in 1977.
Boyle was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives from the City of Newport, Rhode Island in 1981. During his tenure in the House, he served on a number of legislative committees including Judiciary, Labor, Special Legislation and was Chairman of the Joint Committee on the Environment. In 1988, he was elected House Majority Whip where he served until he decided not to seek reelection in 1992.
On a national level, Boyle served as the Chairman of the Eastern Regional Conference of the Council of State Governments and was a member of the Governing Board. He also sat on the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education and the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Clean Water Finance Agency. Recently he was on the Governor’s planning committee for the America’s Cup World Series held in Newport. His civic participation includes time as President of Sail Newport - one of America’s largest community sailing organizations - and he is currently the Board Chair of St. Clare Newport, which provides elderly care to Newport area residents.
Christopher Boyle is a graduate of Providence College and received a JD from Suffolk University in Boston. He is licensed to practice law in Rhode Island.
